OWATONNA, MN — February 1, 2026 — HomeTown Credit Union is proud to announce that Melissa Kuhl, Community Engagement Coordinator, has earned the Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) designation through America’s Credit Unions (CUNA).
The CCUFC certification equips credit union professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to guide members toward sound financial decisions and long-term financial well-being. To earn the designation, Kuhl completed a comprehensive certification program aimed at providing knowledge and skill to support members through every phase of their financial journey. The training emphasizes practical financial counseling techniques that help individuals navigate real-life money decisions and work toward long-term financial success.

As part of her role, Kuhl also offers FREE one-on-one financial coaching sessions available to anyone in HomeTown’s service area, regardless of it they’re a member or not. These sessions provide a supportive, judgment-free opportunity to discuss topics such as budgeting, managing debt, building savings, and setting personal money goals. The CCUFC certification further enhances her ability to offer trusted financial guidance, no matter what the circumstances.
