A Little Kindness Goes a Long Way: HomeTown to Celebrate CU Kind Day

Making an Impact Across Our Communities

At HomeTown Credit Union, being part of a community means more than having a place to work or do your banking. It means showing up, lending a helping hand, and making a difference in the places we call home.

That’s why we’re excited to participate in CU Kind Day on October 12, 2026, joining credit unions across Minnesota for a statewide day dedicated to kindness, volunteerism, and community service.

This year, HomeTown team members will be volunteering with 15 organizations across our three communities: Northfield, Owatonna, and Faribault. By giving our time and energy to local organizations, we’re proud to support the people and programs that help our communities thrive.

What Is CU Kind Day?

CU Kind Day is a statewide initiative organized by the Minnesota Credit Union Network that brings credit union employees together to give back to their local communities. Formerly known as CU Forward Day, the initiative has a refreshed name that reflects the spirit of cooperation, collaboration, and kindness at the heart of the credit union movement.

The idea is simple: small acts of kindness can make a big difference when we work together.

Whether it's volunteering with a local nonprofit, helping with a community project, or supporting an organization that serves our neighbors, CU Kind Day is an opportunity for credit unions to put their people-first values into action.

In 2025, more than 3,500 credit union employees across Minnesota participated in CU Forward Day, contributing nearly 6,000 volunteer hours to more than 360 community organizations. This collective effort demonstrates the incredible impact that can happen when people come together with a shared purpose.

HomeTown Is Showing Up for Our Communities

At HomeTown Credit Union, community involvement isn't something we do just once a year. It's an important part of who we are.

We believe strong communities are built when people support one another, and we're proud to serve members throughout southern Minnesota. From helping members navigate important financial decisions to supporting local events and organizations, we're committed to making a positive impact beyond our branches.

For CU Kind Day 2026, our team is taking that commitment a step further by volunteering with 15 organizations throughout Northfield, Owatonna, and Faribault.

Each organization plays a unique role in making our communities stronger. By volunteering our time, we're helping support the important work happening right here at home while strengthening the connections we share with our neighbors.

We're grateful for the opportunity to step away from our everyday responsibilities, work alongside local organizations, and contribute to the communities that have supported HomeTown over the years.

A Thank You to the Organizations Making a Difference

We want to thank the 15 organizations welcoming HomeTown team members for CU Kind Day. Your work makes Northfield, Owatonna, Faribault, and the surrounding communities better places to live, work, and raise a family.

We're honored to support your efforts and grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the meaningful work you do throughout the year.

We're also thankful for our employees, whose willingness to give back reflects the values that make HomeTown special. Their time, enthusiasm, and commitment to serving others help bring our mission to life.

More Than Banking, It's Belonging

At HomeTown Credit Union, we believe community is about connection. It's about building relationships, supporting our neighbors, and working together toward a brighter future.

CU Kind Day is one more opportunity to put those beliefs into action, and we're proud to join credit unions across Minnesota in celebrating the power of kindness.

Because when we show up for our communities, we all benefit.

Here's to spreading kindness, strengthening connections, and making a difference—one good deed at a time.
